Mára a ProHardver!/IT.News Fórum is nagylétszámú Linuxban jártas taggal büszkélkedhet. Nehéz szinteket felállítani egy olyan rendszer ismeretében, ami annyira sokrétű, hogy teljesen szinte lehetetlen megismerni minden egyes részét. Azt azonban mindenki tudja, hogy kezdő-e vagy sem. Elsősorban nekik szólnak az alábbiak, de érdemes mindenkinek elolvasnia, mint útjelző táblát.

eljutottam odáig, hogy már a vas egyben van, holnap telepíteni is fogok végre. még nem döntöttem el melyik lenne a legjobb választás: xubuntu, deli, dls, puppy vagy a minimál telepített ubuntu...
már csak egyetlen kérdés. nekem a rendszer scsi vinyón lenne, amit egy adaptec kártya irányít. ez is menni fog linux alatt?

Ha a kártya tipusát nem írod be akkor az okosabban nem tudják megmondani, de valszeg fog menni, különösen ha már pár éves cuccról van szó.
Egyben egy kérdésem is van.

Xubuntu betöltés közben megfagy.egyébként hiányolja az acpi jelenlétét, mivel az alaplap bios elég öreg ('97); ettől függetlenül ezen a részen még átlép, később fagy meg.
megpróbálom csak a vga és a scsi kártyákkal, kiveszem a többit. hátha irq ütközés...

egyelőre a deli linuxot próbálom, ez egyelőre még nem fagyott le.
viszont nem tudom melyik billentyűzetet válasszam, mivel magyart nem találtamna még egy gond. hogy tudok scsi vinyóra partíciót kreálni? telepítés közben azt írja ki, hogy nincs létrehozott partíció, hozzak létre egyet. elindítom a cfdisket de az meg nem látja a scsi vinyót

Ha nem látja a vinyót, akkor nem biztos... valamelyik adaptec modult be kellene tölteni, vagy az aacraid-et vagy az aic7xxx-et vagy az aic79xx-et próbáld első körben.
nézd meg az fdisk -l kimenetét egy terminálon.

magyarán még bootolás előtt scsi-vel kellene indítanom a menüből? ha így teszek, akkor betölti a az aic7xxx drivert, de nem látja a rákötött vinyót. a vezérlőt azonban igen.
egyébként azt írja ki, hogy csak a read-only cfdisk töltődött be, nincs jogom az íráshoz.

A hangkartya tamogatas nem igazan distro fuggo, mindenki az ALSA-t hasznalja, ami ismeri az AZT2320-at (az ISA interface miatt lehet, hogy nem fog mukodni az autodetect, akkor majd kezzel kell megmondani neki, hogy mid van).
A wireless kartyadban meg ha minden igaz, akkor RT61 chipset van (sajnos vmiert a gyartoknak van az a maniajuk, hogy tok ugyanolyan tipusszam alatt kulonbozo chipsetre epulo, tok eltero adaptereket is birnak forgalmazni, de ugy tunik, hogy most nincs ilyen fennforgas), amit alapbol tamogat a kernel.
Szoval ez a ket cucc tamogatott.

ez a hangkártya dolog eléggé egyszerűnek tűnik...
A madwifi webje szerint az msi pc54g3-as kártya atheros chipsetes, legalábbis a kettes verziója. Magával a madwifi driverrel néha lehet tornázni egy kicsit, de ha a driver elindult, maga az atheros kártya megint a pihentető békés nyugalom.

Nem tudja valaki, hogy egy olyan gépen, amiben két IDE és egy Sata vinyó van, miért sda, sdb és sdc a három vinyó?
A rendszervinyó az alaplap sata-vezérlőjén van (Sil 1112), az egyik vinyó az alaplapi vezérlőn (+egy LS-120), ezen van még egy DVD is, plusz egy bővítőkártyán a harmadik vinyó (ha jól rémlik, CMD-649).
A sata vezérlőn is van egy DVD író.
A két DVD meghajtót nem látom (k3b is csak néz kerek szemekkel), pedig az IDE-ről telepítettem a rendszert.
Tehát: IDE vinyók nem IDE meghajtóként vannak, Optikai meghajtókat nem látom.
Mi a fene lehet ez?A rendszer Mandriva 2009.

bevallom férfiasan, engem legyőzni látszik a P1, 64MB RAM, S3 Virge VGA, SCSI (Adaptec-2940) HDD, IDE CDRW és egyéb dolgok csapata... Nem hiszem el, hogy nincs olyan op rendszer, amely elfogadható sebességgel futna rajta és minden működne is egyben.
Debian felment, igaz vagy három óráig telepített a gép, minden más meg egyszerűen megfagyott valahol.

szuper teljesítményt és sebességet nem is vártam el, főleg a memória mennyisége miatt, de azért a ráklikkelek és malmozok, majd megunom dolog se gyere be.
de a legnagyobb gond az mégis az, hogy egyedül a debiant sikerült felcsalnom a gépre. az összes többi belefagyott a telepítésbe vagy be sem bootolt eleve. itt gondolom én gond lehet a régi bios és a scsi hdd is.egyébként win98 sem ment ám föl, vagyis de, csak nem bootol be telepítés után

Milyen ablakozót tettél hozzá? Milyen szolgáltatások indulnak? Egy alapos takarítással sokat lehet javítani a sebességen ill. egy lightweight ablakozóval szintén. Pl. egy dpkg -l kimenete megmutatja, hogy mi van feltéve, abból már ki lehet indulni.
Ha a Debian felment, akkor már nyert ügyed van, mert az az egyik legjobban alakítható, flexibilis rendszer.
Mondom ezt én, aki eddig mindig csak olvasott a Debian-ról, és Ubuntu-t használt

A gnome egy szupernehézsúlyú környezet, ekkora gépre nem javasolt. Inkább xfce, vagy ha csudát akarsz látni, akkor enlightenment.
De pár cucc akkor is nagydarab marad, mire minden darabját betölti diszkről, még sokkal gyorsabb gépen is lemegy a nap... Pl. böngésző, firefox, levelező thunderbird, szövegszerkeszteni openoffice.org. Na ezek simán megesznek egy giga ramot is, ha van miből.

szóval xfce vagy enlightenment. ki fogom próbálni őket. illetve előbb rájövök a telepítésük és a gnome lecserélésének mikéntjére

Ebből szerintem több időbe tellik kimazsolázni és kiírtani a nem szükséges elemeket, mint indítani egy netinstallt, aztán teszel xdm-et és openbox-ot, ahogy korábban már linkeltem (azért openbox, mert ahhoz van leírásom, de választhatsz még icewm, fluxbox stb., de azt magadnak kell kikaparni).
Xubuntu betöltés közben megfagy.
