  Btrfs was designed to address obstacles often encountered in enterprise storage systems, such as fault tolerance, management, and data protection. Btrfs delivers data integrity and efficient snapshots. More details on it's benefits you can find on this page:

  While Ext4 file system is a long time used and well known file system, which provides better performance but with less data protection. Ext4 requires less hardware requirements than Btrfs.

  For the Download Station package you can use any of these file systems. If you need more data protection, then you can go for Btrfs. If you need more performance, you can choose Ext4.
