Miről is van szó röviden.
32 nm-en készülő, kétmagos, Nehalem architektúrás központi egységek. Kódnevük: "Clarkdale" Beépített GPU-val (videóvezérlő) ellátva. A harmadszintű gyorsítótárak feleződtek, így összesen 4 MB maradt. Kétcsatornás, DDR3-1333-at támogató memóriavezérlővel rendelkezik hasonlóan a Lyndfield-ekhez. Az új Core i5-ös , GPU-val ellátott verziója egy új utasításkészlettel, az AES-NI-vel (Advanced Encryption Standard New Instructions) bővült. Ez mindössze hat utasítást tartalmaz, amivel az AES algoritmust használó alkalmazások gyorsulhatnak fel, ezek többnyire valamilyen titkosítással (adat, internet, VOIP) kapcsolatosak. A Core i3 és a Core i5-6x1 csak a legalapabb funkciókat támogatja, míg a Core i5-6x0 a VPro-t, a VT-d-t (Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O) és a TXT-t (Trusted Execution Platform) is. A Core i3-ból kiszedték a Turbo Boost támogatást, míg a Core i5 -ben meghagyták.
A GMCH (Graphics Memory Controller HUB) vezérlőlapka 45 nm-es eljárással készül, egy HD videolejátszási képességgel támogatott, DirectX 10-zel kompatibilis, továbbfejlesztett Intel G4x szériás grafikus rendszer.
Ahhoz hogy a CPU-ban található GPU-t kihasználhassuk 3 új Chipset-el szerelt alaplap közül választhatunk:
H57 H55 Q57
A processzorok működnek a P55-ös lapkészlettel szerelt alaplapoknál is ám ott nem tudjuk használni a videóvezérlőt.Az alábbi processzorok érhetők el jelenleg:
