  How to make great shots in FIFA 12?

  I have just started playing FIFA 12 and I find the playing style similar to FIFA 11 except for shooting and tactical defending. Of the two, I find shooting very difficult this time as I always miss out on scoring even in one-on-one situations. So please help me out with some tips which will help me while shooting.

  Thanks for bringing that up. Yes I do agree with you. With the goalkeepers being a bit more smart this time, it is very difficult to score goals. Here are some tips which might help you :

  Chipping :

  Chipping is the easiest shooting technique which can be used when the goalkeeper charges towards you and in FIFA 12 smart goalies charge very frequently, so chipping might be of great use here. Chipping can be done by pressing the following key combination shoot+player switch/player run modifier(by default q). But while doing so, you need to be very careful with the power as even a bit of extra power might see the ball flying over the bar. However you can practice this with the goalkeeper present in the arena.

  Finesse :

  Finesse is another way of shooting which will actually tease the Goalkeeper. Finessing facilitates curling the ball into the net thus making it literally impossible for the goalkeeper to get in the way. Finessing can be done with the following key combination shoot+finesse shot. However while doing so, you need to take care of the angle from which you choose to curl in as every finesse shot wont end up as a shot on target as it was the case in FIFA 09. You can practice this too in the arena. Choosing the players to perform the finesse is also equally important as a player who is not a very good curler in reality will be of the same nature here too. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo are very good at performing the Finesse.

  Farther corner shoot :

  Under certain circumstances, especially during a one-on-one situation with the Goalie it’s always safe to shoot towards the farther post as goalkeepers are more conscious in protecting the near post by default unlike in FIFA 11. And while going for the farther post, if you perform a finesse it couldn’t get any better as you will literally make it impossible for the goalkeeper to stop it.

  Bullet :

  While there are several opponents crowded in your box, it’s always advisable to go for the bullet when you find a shooting space. A bullet shot can be pulled off just like you do for normal shooting provided you shoot with the optimum power required. Powering up a shot is of great importance here as bullet shots have greater chances of being ballooned away.
