Nekem kétszer 40 gigabájt adat veszne el. Na jó, nem annyi, mert nincs korántsem tele a vinyó, de vannak rajta értékes forráskódok, amik pótolhatatlanok, meg persze programok, például MS Flight Simulator.
De most már ki kell majd írni CD -re őket. Csak hát egy rakat cédé kellene. -

Írt ám a Maxtor, csak tegnap nem volt kedvem bemásolni, de most megteszem:

Más szavakkal ez egy súlyos hiba és küldjem vissza a Maxtornak, ha garanciális., Részletesen leírják a garancia feltételeit és, hogy ők fizetik a díjat, amiben küldenek egy újat. ha ez is elromlik, még egyszer visszaküldhetem, de utána már nem, mert egy embertől csak két ''Romulussá'' átneveződött vinyót fogadnak el.
Kérte, hogy írják meg mi okozza ezt, mert sem az elektronikacsere, se más nem segített eddig, de nem válaszoltak erre a felvetésemre. -

Talán az a tudat vigasztaljon (na jó, nem nagyon, csak egy kicsit), hogy másnak is van/volt/lesz ilyen problémája. Én azt tenném, hogy kivenném a vinyót a gépből és holnap megint megpróbálnám, de tudod ez már a csoda effektus. A másik, hogy megkérdezném, mennyiért javítanak, cserélnek a vinyón elektronikát. Tudom nem garis, de ez az egyetlen lehetőség, ha az adatokból valamit vissza akarsz kapni.

Az enyémmel sem volt még ilyen gond, de az egyik Maxtor 5400 -es, a másik 7200 egy két ventis mobil rackben. Az 5400 -es 4 hónapos, a másik 2. Szóval nem tudom, mit szóljak a dologhoz. Ha az elekronika ment tönkre, akkor miért szórakozik ilyen nevekkel és hogy lehet, hogy a Bios felismeri (de hogy???).

Esetleg próbáld mega WVSET utilitiest. Rosszabb már nem lehet. Most nem írom le mire való, itt a Maxtor oldaláról való leírás, bocs a hosszúságért:
''The WVSET utility enables, disables, and sets occurrence values (number of power on/off cycles) for the Write Verify operation on all Maxtor UDMA/100 hard drives. This includes the following Drive Families:

This is an Advanced Utility and its use is recommended for Advanced Users only.
Enabling Write Verify provides an additional level of data verification to the already strong Error Correction Control (ECC) procedures implemented on Maxtor hard drives. This feature should only be enabled for applications that are writing extremely critical data to the hard drive.
Write Verify performs a Read of the data just written to the hard drive and validates the data via the Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC), providing additional assurance that the data written to the hard drive was written correctly. When Write Verify is enabled, the WRITE performance of the drive is affected as a read occurs for each write. When disabled WRITE performance is improved as, a read is not performed for each write.
When performing streaming write operations (e.g. Audio, Video, downloads) additional verification of the data being written is not as important as the continuous writing of the data to the hard drive and Write Verify should be disabled. The WVSET utility can turn Write Verify off or on (forever or for a specific number of power on/off cycles). The command flag (DOS-Based, command line switches) are:
off- Turns the Write Verify operation off on - Turns the Write Verify operation on permanently or always. nnn - Allows number (0-255) of specific power off/on cycles to be selected during which Write Verify is enabled. Once the set number has gone through it's sequencing, Write Verfiy will automatically disable.
A power cycle is the normal shutdown operations of the computer, including turning the power off. When performing benchmark operations this feature should be disabled to insure valid comparisons to other products that do not offer this capability in their product.
Maxtor hard drives are normally shipped with this feature enabled for 10 power cycles.
WVSET.EXE is contained in the file named SETWRTVR.EXE. SETWRTVR.EXE is a self-extracting file containing:

CHIPSET.DRV - Driver Database File
WVSET.TXT - This file
Maxtor recommends that you copy SETWRTVR.EXE to a formatted, 3.5-inch floppy diskette. SETWRTVR.EXE can be extracted either from a DOS Command prompt, by double-clicking on the file from a Windows 95/98 or Windows NT environment. The files must be extracted in order to execute WVSET.EXE.
NOTE: SETWRTVR.EXE is a DOS-Based, command line utility. It cannot be properly executed from a Windows 95/98 or Windows NT environment.
Using a system boot diskette clean boot the system to an A: prompt.
Remove the system boot diskette and insert the diskette containing the WVSET.EXE and CHIPSET.DRV files.
From the A: prompt, type WVSET and press [Enter]. The following will be displayed:

To this point, no changes have been made to the hard drive. After pressing, a key you will be returned to the A: prompt.
From the A: prompt, type in WVSET /OFF (to disable Write Verify) and press [Enter]; or type in WVSET /ON:NNN (to enable Write Verify) and press [Enter]. The valid values for nnn are described above. For example, if you want to enable the Write Verify feature and decrease the number of power cycles from ten (the normal default) to six, you would type:
WVSET /ON:6
This will execute the Write Verify utility. Information will be displayed on the monitor indicating if drives are found and the action taken by the utility. In the example below ''(Chip Set)'' is the identifying information obtained from the IDE controller card (if installed) and / or the motherboard of the computer system.

If a controller card is installed that utilizes a chipset not found in the CHIPSET.DRV file, the card and all devices attached will not be seen by this utility. Information for the motherboard will be displayed. If all IDE devices are connected to an unknown card the utility will report that no drives were found in the system. If this occurs contact Maxtor Technical Support and provide information about the controller card so that it can be investigated and the utility updated as appropriate.
Upon the completion of this utility, the system returns to the A: prompt. Remove the floppy diskette and power-cycle (shutdown/restart) the System.'' -

Megnéztem a MXtor oldalát a hibaelhárítás résznél, de nem találtam erre vonatkozó bejegyzést. Egyszerűen elhallgatják a dolgot, mintha nem is létezne, pedig a jelek szerint egy elég általános problémáról van szó. A jumperelést meg lehet próbálni, de a havernál ez sem segített. Megpróbálok írni a Maxtornak, kíváncsi vagyok mit lépnek a problémára.
